What's easier to run in your opinion and experience?

Blogs or forums.

The benefit of a blog is that you control the content, allowing you to do better SEO and marketing. A forum is generated by user content that you can't control.

What would you rather run and why?

I think blogs are pretty much dead these days, so a good forum is always welcome, right?

Forum any day. Blog is more specific but if you want diversity, then forum is your sure plug. People can argue, share ideas, even make friendships on forums, which you can't possibly do on blogs. Although, blog help you to boosts traffic, but forum builds community.

I enjoy both. I have to put more work into a blog especially if it's just me whereas other people can contribute to forums.

But with a blog I can choose how often to post.

Blogging is like a full-time job. More like when you don't make posts, the site will look like a graveyard. That is the part that I've been looking at that makes me feel that running a forum is much better and easier. I mean running a forum is much more fun for me.

I used to run my personal blog and honestly I found it easier to manage. You have full control over the content which makes SEO and marketing much simpler. I prefer the control and simplicity of running a blog.

I’ve run both a blog and a forum. My blog was free hosted, I wasn't very serious with it. I run a self hosted forum on open source. In my experience, the blog is easier to manage, while the forum is more challenging because it requires constant moderation, engagement, and community management.

Either of them can be hard, depending on how much you want to put into.

Anyway, I would note that blog comments are important for SEO, so user participation is as important as it is for forums.
