As a severely hearing impaired person, Ive picked up a few a few hand gestures for thank you, you're welcome, and beautiful. I've found a website for learning it.
I remember a few church songs and words from studying ASL when I was in my late 20's. But it's a matter of use it or lose it so other than a few signs, it's pretty much gone now. Even my boyfriend who used it to communicate with his two deaf siblings growing up with them has lost a good portion of what he knew. Plus like all spoken language, language evolves over the years. On occasions when he was out to eat and he bumped into his deaf brother, his wife and their deaf friends and tried to keep up with their signing, he would find himself at a loss to understand or keep up. The friends told his brother my boyfriend speaks "old man ASL." LOL
