Is “loyalty” from members real, or just temporary convenience until something better arrives?

In your experience, how has loyalty on a forum you run played out?

Did your members stay loyal to you or jump ship when something better came along?

I've had very loyal members who have followed each of my projects. The list goes down when I open and close a new forum but I'm trying to learn to stay motivated for the long hull.

My member loyalty is based on posting contracts and post exchanges, unfortunately.

I have a very few select core members that stick around no matter what, so it is nice to have that loyalty from them.

From what I've learned about Christianity Haven is that members are loyal to me if I apply the rules in a gentle, yet consistent way, am friendly and fair and understand their types of conversations so that when newbies join, I can stick up for them. So in a way, if I'm loyal to them, they're loyal to me. I have some members who have been there since the first 6 months, and that's great. They don't post daily though, so that's not so great.
