Overcrowded places, talking to strangers, etc but part of the reason I have social anxiety us due to be severely hearing impaired.

Yeah same, It is frustrating when I can't hear people too, makes me anxious because they think I am just being arrogant

Without a doubt, large gatherings of people have always made me feel anxious. From puberty on I have had to push myself to go out to school and work. An occasional concert didn't bother me, it was more about being in a situation where I had to mingle with people and talk with them.  Before I retired life was more like this...
