So this isn't an attack on those services because if you're limited in knowledge then that may be the best option but the issue with them is I'm pretty sure you can't transfer to a self hosted free or paid software and take the members and content with you.

I would say it would be better to get clued up on something like MyBB or phpBB self hosted then you can move to paid software later on.
